At night, flourescent pebble paths sparkle beneath excited feet, majestic trees and plants glow, and waterfalls and lakes shimmer and shine beneath thousands of lighting displays. But it's the features such as the talking giant, fire poi dancers or parades that captivate the young and not so young. Structures such as the park's water wheel, fountains and historic band rotunda are flooded with lights, while illuminated wooden rowboats offer a romantic boating opportunity like no other. Daily activities for families and children include scavenger hunts, skateboarding events and much more. On stage nightly entertainment is offered on two seperate stage on the hatchery lawn every night and also on the Fred Parker Lawn on weekends. Te Kupenga Stone Sculpture Symposium

See the transformation as large boulders of stone turn into beautiful works of art at the hands of talented sculpters. Our biennial symposium features 25 national and international sculpters, who will be using chisels and angle grinders to carve large boulders of local stone into beautiful works of art.
